Partnering with Robert Halfon MP for Anaphylaxis Awareness Week

With approx. 2 allergy children in every UK school classroom, are you doing enough to manage the risks that allergy presents to your school?

We ran our first-ever in-person event with schools in Harlow for Anaphylaxis Awareness Week 🙌🏻

Go fast, go alone, go far - go together! That’s why we teamed up with:

Rt Hon Robert Halfon, the Member of Parliament for Harlow and a staunch advocate for education and community issues. His involvement highlighted the importance of this event.

Clare Bull, CEO of Clarever Education and a trusted name in the field of educational consultancy and Harlow! Clare offers expertise and solutions to enhance learning environments and helped put together the event.

Together, we engaged in meaningful conversations about the critical topic of "Understanding Allergies & Managing Anaphylaxis in a School Specific Setting."

Schools present gained valuable insights into creating a safer environment for students with allergies as they first listened to Clare and Robert Halfon as they shared their knowledge and expertise on education, allergy awareness and anaphylaxis management within a school context.

It then moved on to me, as I talked through my experience of living with severe allergies, case studies of anaphylaxis, government guidance, and our multi-award-winning Kitt service.

At the end we held an insightful Q&A session where questions from Harlow schools were answered by myself and the rest of the Kitt Medical team, providing practical tips and advice on how to effectively address allergies and anaphylaxis in schools.

The event was covered by ITV East Anglia - click to watch.

There was also a great deal of chat, with networking and connection of fellow educators, parents, community members, and healthcare professionals who share a passion for creating allergy-aware and safe school environments.

Overall, we came together to create a safer and more informed educational community in Harlow. We ended up receiving backing of our Anaphylaxis Kitts by a member of parliament, as well as a variety of press coverage - and of course, having a hugely positive impact on anaphylaxis awareness for Harlow. A huge thank you to Passmores Academy for hosting us on the day!

Why a defibrillator for allergies should be in every school in Harlow

We’d love to do more events like this and highlight the importance for allergy awareness and anaphylaxis preparedness in local areas.

So - Where should we hold the next Kitt Medical event? 👀
